🇫🇷 Grange Du Midi Chardonnay 2022 (原箱6️⃣瓶)

THE BRAND
In French the word Grange is used to describe a large old building often used to keep animals. Its English equivalent is a barn. In the Midi, an area through which the Canal du Midi flows, these buildings can often still be seen along the river.

TERROIR
This Pays d'Oc wine region benefits from the Mediterranean climate. With its coastline bordering the region in the South, it provides hot and dry summers for a perfect maturity. On the other side, the Black Mountain brings enough humidity and cool temperatures for the vineyards to produce grapes packed with fruity aromas. The terroir effect is very noticeable in this region due to the great variety of winegrowing areas that create an expression of the grape varieties that is unique.

This premium Chardonnay comes from the far south west of the Languedoc region, nestled by the Pyrenees from a wide foothills. The vineyards greatly benefit from a wide temperature range and Oceanic influences.  This combination ensures the production of Chardonnay grapes with perfect level of acidity. The resulting wines are very fresh and balanced.

WINEMAKING
The first step in crafting this Chardonnay is picking the grapes at perfect maturity to create a rich white wine. The pressing is very gentle in a pneumatic press with an extraction of the premium juices only. The fermentation is driven in stainless steel vats with temperature control (16/18°C). To preserve the freshness of the wine, the malolactic fermentation is stopped. The wine is aged on its fine lees during 5 months with regular stirring before bottling.

WINEMAKER'S NOTE
Bright and pale gold in the glass. The nose displays intense aromas of peach and ripe pear, with slight notes of white blossom and honeysuckle. A bunch of fresh stone fruits on the palate, with a crisp and mineral-driven texture.
