THE BRAND
In French the word Grange is used to describe a large old building often used to keep animals. Its English equivalent
is a barn. In the Midi, an area through which the Canal du Midi flows, these buildings can often still be seen along the river.
TERROIR
The Pays d'Oc benefits from the Mediterranean climate.
With its coastline bordering the region in the South, it provides hot and dry summers for a perfect maturity. On
the other side, the Black Mountain brings enough humidity and cool temperatures for the vineyards to produce grapes packed with fruity aromas.
This specific Merlot comes from terroirs located on the eastern part of the Pays dโOc appellation. As this varietal needs regular watering, we have selected terroirs close to
the Canal du Midi. Here, the soils are deep, made of limestone and clay, proving enough water. The sunny Mediterranean Climate allows the berries to ripen slowly - until the end of the summer, as Merlot has a late ripening profile.
WINEMAKING
To craft this wine, our experts mix traditional French winemaking techniques with modern ones, to create a perfectly balanced easy-drinking wine. After harvest, a
small part of the crop goes through hot skin contact maceration in order to enhance the fruit aromas. The other part is destemmed and sent to a traditional maceration for about two weeks. These two techniques together deliver a structured and balanced wine with smooth tannins.
WINEMAKER'S NOTE
Ruby with purple hints in the glass. The nose displays intense aromas of fresh cherry and plum, with hints of dried herbs. A lot of fruit on the palate with a hint of black pepper and supple tannins in the finish.
